Praise You in This Storm

Ten years ago
the Twin Towers fell.
I remember how frightened I was that day.
I was on a bus trip to Chicago's Botanical Gardens
with my mom and my dad.
I heard someone talking about it at the McDonald's
we had stopped at for coffee and a restroom break.
I asked "excuse me, are you talking about a movie?"
Their answer floored me.
I just wanted to be in my home.
I wanted my family gathered around me.
I wanted to be in front of my TV so
I could be informed.
My kids were in college and high school.
They didn't have cell phones.
My brother-in-law was in China.
I felt we were too scatttered.
I was fearful.
But my family was safe.
No one was in real danger.
I cannot fathom what New Yorkers felt.
My heart broke for them.
I was proud of our country.
And I still am.
I prayed then
and I am praying today
for all those who lost their lives
and for the people who loved them.
We live in a fallen world.
The fighting continues.
My good friend's brother
was injured badly on Friday.
I have friends with sons/daughters
who live in the danger zone
to protect me and my rights.
Brave men/ women are dying.
What is the answer?
Prayer is the answer.
I don't have the solution
but I turn to the One who does.
I praise him.
 I ask for his wisdom
and his strength.
I trust Him for
He is good all the time.

Please pray for our country,
our military,
and their loved ones.

Tears....remembering and thanking God
for never leaving us nor forsaking us,
and for the greatest Gift..His own son, Jesus.
He is The Light of the World...and our eyes are upon Him.
Such a thoughtful post Janie.

What a beautiful post. I don't think any of us will ever forget a single detail of that day.

True. What else can we do but look to the One who has the answers. And sift for the beauty in the ashes.... Good words Janie.

Moving video that touches the deepest parts of my heart. We can't help but wonder why it goes on, but the Bible tells us.. wars and rumors of wars always. I pray for comfort for those who have lost their loved ones, strength for those who face each day in danger and peace for the world.

I was at work that day when my husband phoned me and told me what had happened. When the second plane hit we turned on our TV at work and watched the horror unfold. Needless to say we couldn't work. We wept for our US neighbors to the south. My husband who was a Firefighter before he retired 6 years ago related to those brave men walking up those stairs. To this day he still has a hard time watching the anniversaries on TV.
