Forever and a day.

Today was my day to visit and help the folks.
 Rebath is re-doing their bath.
One of my sisters, Linda, Judy or I
try to be there
in case there are questions.
My niece helps too.
We run interference with Dad.
We do projects and give Mom a break.
Dad has Alzheimer's
and he has done really great
with all the upheaval.
It is driving Mom a bit batty.
She hates a mess.
They told us it would take 9 days.
then they said 4 days...
but we knew the guy had originally said 9
and drywall usually takes 3 days .
We were good with 9.
There was drywalling to be done,
plumbing, electrical etc.
New shower stall and new toilet.
New vanity and lights.
New floor and painting.
Totally do-able.
We do this kind of stuff
but it is farming season.
There is no time for our men to do it.
So re-bath was hired.
And then they sent their contractor snail.
Seriously, you need to stake him
to see him move.
He started the day before Penelope was born.
He took Labor Day and Tuesday off this week.
It has been 13 days.
Holy remodel.
He may finish on Monday.
He may finish...
I have officially renamed them
Forever Bath.
I told my niece, Ellen
who knew when they told us their time frame
they were speaking in dog years terminology.
Seriously, I want to gripe
but we want him to finish un-mad.
We are saving our complaints until the end.
He is doing the work well.
Although, he has taken so long painting,
I am certain he is using a nail polish brush.
We have learned the hard way
to talk to him very little.
He will stop working and jaw way too long.
The man cannot work and talk.
The product they use is quality
and the bath is looking nice.
It will be great when it is finished.
I'll show pictures when it is done...
at Halloween.

Oh, brother! You ARE wise to hold the complaints till the end...

My mother has an increasing amount of dementia. This kind of upheaval would really through her. She had a hard time while here at Labor Day with the "crowd". Bless her heart. How good of you to recognize your father's discomfort and do what you can to "run interference".

I have come to the conclusion that (most) men are incapable of multi-tasking, and that problem gets worse with age. This is a fact that I really don't understand, and most definitely would have killed my h for years ago, had I not discovered that they all seem to be inflicted with this problem.

Yes, you're wise to wait to complain until the job is finished.

Hugs - dear lady. Happy weekend. :)

Grrr....contractors! We did a re-model 5 years ago. I said I'd never do it again. Yes, they did a good job but I can still get my stomach churning when I think about the process!
